Just hatched

twitterpeek

We’ve got some exciting news today - we’ve just hatched a new Peek!
It’s the world’s first dedicated Twitter mobile device, TwitterPeek.

Twitter… seems like everybody’s doing it these days. Celebrities, companies and real people alike can be found on this über cool site where you post (i.e. tweet) “What are you doing?” in 140 characters. It’s quickly become the most popular way for people around the world to share thoughts, discoveries and ideas.

stockingWe’re certainly big fans of Twitter here at Peek and we’re especially big fans of Twitter-on-the-go. Twitter is so much more interesting when you can tweet and reply to conversations as they happen – in real time, not from behind a PC.

However, for millions of Twitter users this isn’t really possible. Unless you have an expensive smartphone and data plan it’s hard to really experience Twitter on-the-go. Technically you can use SMS on a regular phone, but it’s really not the same.  So most Twitter users are stuck using the web - and they’re missing out.

TwitterPeek is designed to make it affordable for people of all ages and walks of life to take the world of Twitter with them wherever they go. It’s only $99 with service included. You can send and receive all the tweets & DMs you want, view Twitpics and even open links - all with nationwide coverage (no wifi needed).

twitterpeek featuresTwitter addicts will love that it’s one device dedicated to their habit – fully loaded with “always on” tweet delivery. Twitter newbies will revel in the simplicity of a handy device that is easy to understand. Companies that tweet will pass it around to co-workers as a nifty way to stay connected with customers.

Part tool, part toy – 100% Twitter. Send Santa a DM and tell him what you want this holiday.

TwitterPeek is available exclusively at Amazon. For more info on our newest arrival visit:

  2. How about better texting. Not to a number but actual true texting

I may try one once I learn more about the plan and unit…..

  4. I say its a waste of money time and effort to make this device eventually it will end up like the ATT device they made almost 4 or 5 years ago when it was allowing you to be on aim and yahoo and check your emails for i think about 25 dollars a month, not worth it at all actually you couldn’t browse the net or upload or dowlnload pictures pointless…

    Waste…

  5. talk about a giant waste of money and time for everyone involved. have a phone? you can tweet… have the Internet… you can actually tweet with that… have facebook, guess what you dont ever have to touch twitter :) you can just forward tweet with that. so lets all write checks for this useless device, more junk in the box.

  6. You know what would make the Twitter Peek that much cooler? A camera.

Yes I know, it would require a retooling of the hardware where TwitterPeek just swapped out some software and was good to go. However even a decent-quality 640×480 camera would complement being able to look at pics on your Twitter Peek from TwitPic etc.

This really seems like a cool little device, though of course tinyTwitter on my HTC Touch pro does more.

  7. Great stuff! Can’t wait to try it out and then have my wife complain even more that I pay even less attention to her after seeing this device. lol

    Great job guys!!!

Now if they can only make a PING.FM device that will upload to EVERYTHING at once.

    hmmm…things to think about…

  8. So let me get this straight…a device that ONLY does Twitter?!? Wow. I’m amazed. Now I just need one for Facebook, Myspace, YouTube, and the other twenty or so social networking sites out there. Now I swear to god if I see people actually walking around with this thing I am going to laugh so hard. Eight bucks a month to do Twitter? for Christ’s sake even the MOST EXPENSIVE data plan (iPhone) is $30 a month and most users would argue that iPhone data rivals that of true desktop replacement for web accessibility in most regards, OK I’m exaggerating a tad, but I really don’t see a market here. It reminds me of those two way text devices aimed at kids who’s parents wont let them have a cell phone you know the little walkie talkie communicators that have a qwerty keyboard, I think AOL actually did something like this a long time ago, teh “AOL Communicator” I believe it was called. That thing was a total flop and that was like 10 years ago. Gone are the days people want a single device that does a single thing. Especially when the price tag is about the same as the latest gen iphone! Sorry Twitter Peek & Amazon, but this is going to be a certain FAIL!

  10. For certain people their email device fit the bill. I was actually considering getting it for my dad. He’s 66 years old and doesn’t really like smart phones - but the Twitter Peek? Really? When I first read about this on some gadget sites I actually thought it was a joke from the Onion or something. I know most people don’t “get” twitter - but I use it a lot - over 10-15 times a day, sometimes more, but you can’t get all your tweets. In fact if you leave it off, and turn it back on the device actually says - wow you got a lot of tweets here are 10, read the rest online. You can only see pictures with TwitPic (no other service), and it links you to text only versions of web pages. You can’t even read the entire 140 characters in a tweet. You have to click on the tweet, then click again to choose what you want to to (read, reply, etc…) for EACH tweet that you want to read in full.

I understand their target market is for people that don’t want a cellular/data plan, but for $199 (which is the same as their lifetime option) you can get an iPod Touch and tweet all you want over Wi-Fi with some of the best Twitter apps in the world. Not to mention have access to over 100,000 apps, and a device with arguably the best mobile UI on the planet. TwitterPeak = TwitterFAIL.
